A helping hand for the homebound

Established in 1980, Your Neighbors is a nonprofit comprised of volunteers from area churches, synagogues, businesses, social services, and civic organizations who help support the homebound in greater Utica, NY. The majority of our clients are frail, elderly and/or disabled, and often lack the support of friends and family. Our volunteers serve those in our community who are the most vulnerable and in need of assistance to ensure their health and well-being are maintained with a sufficient level of independence.

Nourishing our community

Our meal service operates much like a food bank, except all of our nutritious meals are pre-prepared, packaged and frozen for reheating when needed. Our dedicated volunteers prepare individual meals, which are then stored in area freezer locations. The client need only to reheat the meals to enjoy a healthy, home-cooked dinner.  Using the federal guidelines of $2 per prepared meal with an adjusted $1 per soup, the cost totals $9,538 annually.

Supporting Utica's most vulnerable

Donations are crucial to our ability to provide healthy meals at no cost to our clients. As our meal requests have doubled over the last few years, we are relying on community donations and corporate sponsorship now more than ever to keep up with the demand.
